Newspaper Obituary - Saturday Evening, November 10, 1906 Oswego Daily Times - Oswego, New York - After an illness of several months with cancer, Mrs. Sylvester Hemens, only daughter of Mrs. Perry Hardy of Port Ontario, passed away yesterday at the home of her parents, aged about 49 years. Mr. and Mrs. Hemens about six months ago removed to this town from Sackets Harbor. Besides the parents and husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Everett VanAlstyne of Syracuse. Funeral services will be held at the house at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, November 14, 1906 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Port Ontario - Mrs. Kate B. Hardy, wife of Sylvester Hemens, died at her parent's home, Perry V. and Mrs. Caroline Hardy, November 9, 1906, at the age of 49 years and 3 months. Mrs. Hemens was born at Port Ontario but had lived the most of her married life at Sacket Harbor. Besides her husband and parents she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Maude Van Alstyne, and grandson, Lawrence, of Syracuse. The funeral was held Sunday, the 11th, at the house, Rev. C. H. Guile officiating. Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Vincent, of Pulaski, rendered appropriate vocal selections. Those present at the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Eve Van Alstyne and son, of Syracuse; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Manwarren, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Manwarren, of Texas; Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Graves, of Parish; Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Box and B. W. Box, of Pulaski. The burial was at Sand Hill cemetery. The floral offerings of smilax, carnations and chrysanthemums were beautiful and numerous.
