Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, June 16, 2001 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Zachary T. Brownell Highway Worker, Pilot - Zachary T. Brownell, 93, County Route 2, died Wednesday at his home. Mr. Brownell, a life resident of Orwell, was employed by the town of Orwell Highway Department for 25 years, retiring in 1970. He previously worked at Crouse-Hinds Company, Syracuse, and on the St. Lawrence Seaway project. Born September 15, 1907, in Orwell, he was a son of Frank and Carrie Reese Brownell. He married Genevieve L. Waggoner on October 18, 1951. Mr. Brownell was a former member of the Orwell Fire Department. An avid pilot, he built his own airplanes. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Jean M. Johnson, Orwell, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Orwell Fire Department, County Route 2.
