    • Obituary of John T. LaFave, Jr.

      John T. LaFave, Jr., age 89, formerly of Pulaski passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. He resided in Pulaski since 1960, retiring to Hilton Head Island, SC. John was born August 20, 1931 in Oswego, the son of John and Dorothy Baker LaFave, Sr. He graduated Corning high school in 1949 and served in the United States Army, Korean Conflict, from 1952 until 1954, continuing onto Oswego State to study education. John was married nearly 60 years to the love of his life, Patricia Ann Booth LaFave, who passed away June 2, 2018. John was gregarious and enjoyed hosting parties with Pat and socializing with friends, especially as he travelled in his RV. He was employed by Syracuse City School District for 30 years, teaching at Central Tech. He was self-employed as an electrician for many years as well as managing the Maple Manor Nursing facility in Richland. He owned a laundromat and several apartment buildings. John was an active member of the Pulaski Lions Club and Christ Our Light Parish (formerly St. John’s Catholic Church).

      Surviving are four children, Tom (Christine) LaFave of Cazenovia, Susan LaFave of Hilton Head, SC, Shannan (Mike) Leeper of Mansfield, OH, and Christopher LaFave of Boca Raton, Florida, eight grandchildren, Andrew (Brittany) LaFave, Emily LaFave, Grace LaFave, Nicholas Leeper, Kathleen Leeper, Mary Leeper, Harrison LaFave, Eleanor LaFave, one great grandson, Jack LaFave. He is survived by his sister, Patricia (Bill) Peck and many nieces and nephews.

      Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 26th at Christ Our Light Parish, 23 Niagara Street, Pulaski with burial in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski prior to the service.
