Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, January 7, 1965 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mrs. Della Lillis Dies Wednesday Mrs. Della Marie Lillis, 62, died early Wednesday, January 6, 1964 (sic) in the Evergreens Nursing Home at Mannsville. She had been a resident of Orwell for most of her adult life and was formerly employed at the County Tuberculosis Sanatorium. She had been in failing health for several months. Her funeral will be held at the Weston and Woodard funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Robert Bird, pastor of Sandy Creek Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Orwell cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home between 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Lillis was born September 11, 1902 in the Town of Ellisburg. Her parents were William Marshall and Addie Zufelt Marshall. She spent her early life in Ellisburg and attended school there and was a graduate of the Mercy Hospital school of nursing. She married Albert Lillis of Orwell. He died in 1955. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lillis where employees of the Oswego County Sanatorium for many years and Mrs. Lillis later was employed at Mercy State Hospital. Mrs. Lillis was a member of the Orwell Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Byrns of Seber Shore, Sandy Pond and three grandsons, Robert, Kenneth and James.
Newspaper Obituary - January 14, 1965 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Mrs. Lillis' Funeral Held Here Friday - The funeral of Mrs. Della Lillis, 62, was held Friday afternoon at the Weston and Woodard funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Bird, pastor of Sandy Creek Methodist church, officiating. Mrs. Lillis was the daughter of Captain William Marshall Fobes and Addie Zufelt Fobes and was born in the Town of Ellisburg. Both, she and her husband, the late Albert Lillis of Orwell, were employees of the Oswego County Sanatorium for many years. She died Jan. 6, 1965 in the Evergreen Nursing Home in Pulaski.
