- Newspaper Obituary - October 11, 2008 Watertown Daily Times - ROBERT R. CURRIER - The funeral for Robert R. Currier, 81, Springbrook Apartments, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. David Snyder, pastor of Orwell United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. He died Thursday at the home of his son and daughter-in-law John and Tammy, Orwell. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. He was employed by the Oswego County Highway Department, was a heavy-equipment operator and member of Operating Engineers, Arizona, from 1970 to 1977 and retired as a self-employed logging contractor in 1984. Born June 22, 1927, in the town of Hastings, son of Ralph and Lucy Colvin Currier, he was raised and educated in Osceola. He lived in Orwell and Arizona before moving to Pulaski in 2001. A marriage ended in divorce. He served in the Merchant Marine from 1944 to 1945 and in the Army from 1945 to 1946. Surviving besides his son and daughter-in-law are two other sons, Allan R., Oregon, Wis., and James R., Orwell; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Charles Miles, Lacona; three brothers, John, Pulaski, Ralph, Osceola, and Owen, Sandy Creek; two sisters, Ruth Reynolds, Osceola, and Marcia Mechensky, Ocala, Fla.; 27 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
