Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, July 8, 1943 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Former Fernwood Man is Dead - Suffering a stroke Friday night at his home in Pulaski, George Barnard, 71, failed to rally and died early Monday at Crouse-Irving hospital, Syracuse. He was the son of Martin and Laura Hicks Barnard and was born near Fernwood November 12, 1872, and had always made his home in Oswego county. He was a former cheese maker. He was a member of Fernwood Baptist church, South Richland Grange, and Mexico Odd Fellows lodge. Surviving are a son, Paul Barnard; a daughter, Mrs. Wallace Flicks, of North Syracuse, two brothers, Addison of Fernwood and Edward Barnard, Theresa and a sister, Mrs. Ida Walters, Oriskany. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Fernwood Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Ellis Butler. Burial was in Willis cemetery.
