    • February 4, 1892 Phebe Bernard, age 77 years, 5 months, 21 days, Widow, born in Vernon, Oneida County, New York, Daughter of Clark and Ruth Baily, died in Richland Township of La Grippe.
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, February 11, 1892 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - South Richland - Died at her home, February 4, in South Richland, Mrs. Phoebe Barnard, in her 78th year. Mrs. Barnard was born in Vernon, Oneida County, and came to this place 26 years ago this present year. One year ago her husband and companion from early maidenhood, died. They had lived a married life about 55 years. Mrs. B. was a Christian lady, very careful and considerate as to the right and wrong ways of doing; a good, kind and obliging neighbor, doing always the little good she could, and a devoted mother to her children, of which but three remain to mourn her loss and miss the dearest friend earth holds for a child. M. Barnard and Mrs. C. H. Hicks, of South Richland, and Mrs. J. W. Pride, of Utica, who is the guest of her brother and sister, having been summoned by the illness and death of her mother. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church, on the 7th. Sermon by Rev. Northrup, assisted by Rev. Pruyne, who both spoke comforting words. The friends feel thankful to the choir for the singing, which was very nice indeed, and to those who assisted in any way during the sickness, death and burial of our mother, and be assured when it is yours to pass through the same ordeal we will not forget your kindness to us. Her four grandsons, Addison, George and Edwin, and Melvin Hicks, tenderly bore her to her last resting place beside her companion in the Willis cemetery.
