Newspaper Obituary - Monday, June 4, 1984 Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Fred C. Stevens - Orwell - Fred C. Stevens, 55, formerly of Orwell, died Saturday in his St. Albans, Vermont home. Born in Orwell, he was the son of Lillian Bartlett Stevens and the late Harold Stephens. He graduated from Sandy Creek Central Schools, and served with the United States Navy from 1946 to 1950. He married Barbara Clifford in 1953. For the last 18 years, Mr. Stevens has been employed by IBM in Burlington, Vermont, as a senior laboratory specialist, and at Cape Canaveral, Florida, as a quality control technician. He was awarded an achievement plaque in 1969 for outstanding service to the space program. He previously was employed by General Electric, RCA and the United States Air Force. Mr. Stevens was a member of the Community Covenant Church and the Amboy Lodge 650 F&AM of Williamstown. Surviving besides his wife and mother, are four sons, Keith of Canton, James of Piscataway, New Jersey, Brian of Wappinger Falls, New York and Allan Stevens of St. Albans; a daughter, Julia Stevens of St. Albans; two grandchildren; two brothers, Cyrus Stevens of Fulton and John Stevens of Syracuse; and a sister, Ruth Garvin of Watertown. Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home in St. Albans. Committal services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen cemetery, Orwell, the Rev. Gilbert Clemons officiating. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Masonic services are at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
