Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 9, 1946 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Mrs. Mary E. Pond, 68, widow of Forest W. Pond, who died in 1927, died Saturday in Elmhurst hospital, Rochester, where she had been a patient for some weeks. She was stricken in February in Tampa, Florida, where she had been spending the past few winters, and accompanied by her son, George Pond, recently discharged from the Army Air Corps, returned to Rochester. She was born at Daysville, June 29, 1877, the daughter of Algernon and Florence Furbish Sampson, and had been a resident of Pulaski most her life, moving to Rochester four years ago to make her home with her son, Robert D. Pond. She was a member of Pulaski Methodist church and Rising Sun Rebekah lodge. Surviving are her two sons; two brothers, Martin G. and Albert L. Sampson, of Oswego; and a granddaughter, Rothleen Pond, Rochester. Services were held at the Taylor funeral rooms, Pulaski, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by Rev. James N. Pauley. Burial was in Willis cemetery, Fernwood.
