- Class of 1934 PACS
August 7, 2003 Sarah Jane Gowin of Edgerton Estates, Minoa, died Thursday at Hallmark Nursing Centre in Minoa. A native of Altmar, N.Y., Mrs. Gowin resided in East Syracuse many years before moving to Minoa. Mrs. Gowin had retired as a teacher'said from East Syracuse-Minoa Schools. She was a former communicant of St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse and currently attended St. Mary's Church in Minoa. She was the first chairperson of the ESM Scholarship Fund, an honorary member of the ESM PTA, a member of the East Syracuse Baseball Association Auxiliary, a member of the St. Francis Holy Rosary Society, and a member of the Minoa Golden Age Club. Survivors: her husband- A. Colby Gowin; six daughters- Carol Sloan of Las Vegas, NV, Connie Hill of Naples, FL, Mary Kippley of Kirkville, Pam Abu Jaber of Dallas, GA, Vivian Gowin and Judi Floyd, both of Jacksonville, FL; three sons- Toby of East Syracuse, Gary of Jackson, OH, and Mark of Alexandria, VA; three sisters- Eileen Morris of Horsham, PA, Cecelia Ackerman of Locana, NY, and Dru Ellen Haswell of Terre Haute, IN; a brother- Eben Forbes of Richland, NY; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services: 9:15 a.m. Tuesday from the Russell H. Schepp & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Minoa. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Minoa.
