Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, January 22, 1891 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - South Richland - Died at his home in South Richland, January 16th, 1891 Mr. Adonijah Barnard, 80 aged years. Deceased moved from Oneida county where he was born and always lived until twenty six years ago, when he bought the place where he has since lived and died. Mr. B was an honest, upright, Christian man, giving his heart to God in early manhood and always acknowledging God in everything as the giver and doer of all. He was the last of a family of eleven children and had out lived the rest of the family by a score of years. He has been gradually failing; twice before he has had {slight shocks but the third proved too much for his already feeble body and unconsciously he lingered just one week until his quiet spirit heard the "Come and enter in," and the pearly gates were ajar and Angels bid him welcome. There will be no more trials, no more suffering, no more waiting and longing. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Whipple on the 18th at the M. E. church, of which he had been for years a faithful member, also he has held many, and even all, the offices which the church requires. Interment at the Willis cemetery. An aged companion, one son, Mr. M. Barnard, Mrs. C. H. Hicks, of this place, and Mrs. J. W. Pride, of Utica, are left of his family to miss and mourn a kind earthly father. Among those who were present at the funeral from out of town were J. W. Pride and wife, of Pulaski; W. H. Tifft and wife, of Sandy Creek; J. M. Potter and wife, of Orwell.
