Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, August 19, 1886 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - South Richland District - Died at the residence of Mrs. M. Brown on the morning of August 9th, Mrs. Sarah Sampson. Mrs. Sampson was born in Otsego County. Her maiden name was Miss Sarah Burdick, sister of Mr. Jessie Burdick, of the town of Mexico, and of Mrs. Charles Calkins, of Albany, formerly of this town. She was twice married. In her youth she gave her heart and hand in marriage to Mr. W. Hendrickson, now deceased, who brought her, a young and blushing bride, to live on the Salt Road in the house now owned by Mr. M. Barnard. She was a consistent Christian, a Baptist by faith and a member of the Holmesville Baptist Church and choir for many years. Three children were given to them, Mrs. M. Hannas, of Fulton, Mrs. G. Hendrickson, of Mexico, and Mrs. M. Brown, of this town, with whom she had lived at the time of her death, all of whom survive her and mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate mother. In later years she married Mr. Sampson, of Prattville. In her last sickness she was gentle and pleasant, although her sufferings were great and hard to bear. Kind hands entwined into bouquets, wreaths of various forms, beautiful flowers, tributes fitting to the occasion. Rev. J. Douglass, of Pulaski, preached a tender and well considered sermon which contained many appropriate truths. The remains were interred in the Sand Hill Cemetery.
