Boonville- William E. Hutchins, 72, of Kerwin Road passed away on November 15, 2017 at Suny Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.
William was born November 27, 1944 in Laurinburg, NC, a son of Gilbert and Pearl Toliver Hutchins. He grew up in Port Leyden and entered the US Army serving from 1964-65. For a few years he worked on arcade and vending machines. He then began his scrap metal salvage business on the Kerwin Road in the Town of Leyden which he operated for many years. He enjoyed playing poker, going to the casino, scratch-off lottery tickets and automobiles, especially corvettes.
Surviving are his long-time companion, Karen Coe; his children, Crystal Myers, Richland, NY, Renee Claasan, North Carolina, Patrick Hutchins, North Carolina, Joseph Hutchins, Boonville, Billie Joe Liyanage, Prior Lake, Minnesota and Beth Anne Hutchins, Adams; many grand children and great grand children; three brothers, Rodney Hutchins, Port Leyden, Rendell Hutchins, Boonville and Rusty Hutchins, Glenfield and a sister, Regina Hutchins, Port Leyden. William was predeceased by his parents, a son William Hutchins Jr., November 3, 2013 and a sister Katrina Hutchins.
A funeral service will be on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville. Calling hours will be from 1-3 prior to the service. Members of the Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey V.F.W. and Tun Tavern Leathernecks Marine Corp League will all conduct a military service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
