Jesse Stowell, 72, Ridge Road, died Tuesday at his home.
A private funeral will be held today at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Wesleyan Cemetery, Boylston, in the spring.
Contributions may be made to the Northern Oswego County Ambulance.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Kay Kastler, Lacona; a sister, Muriel Texido, Melbourne Beach, Fla.; a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Born July 10, 1919, in Boylston, son of Leon and Elizabeth Shafty Stowell, he graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1934 at age 15.
Mr. Stowell retired in 1979 from the state Department of Environmental Conservation. He previously owned and operated the family farm from 1947 to 1959. He was a life resident of the Lacona area.
He married Barbara Armstrong on Sept. 5, 1940.
Mr. Stowell served with the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of Robert Edwards Post 358 of the American Legion in Pulaski.
He was also a member of the Sandy Creek United Methodist Church and was an avid woodsman, naturalist and carpenter.
