    • Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, August 19, 1903 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Richland - The relatives and friends of Mrs. Cyrus Stewart were very much grieved to learn of her sudden death which occurred last Friday evening. While assisting a friend and neighbor in milking, she was taken with a stroke of apoplexy and in a very short time "He that knoweth what is best" took her unto himself. Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eddy and was born in South Crosby, Canada, in 1857. She was baptized when a child in the Methodist church and came to this town to reside 36 years ago. The deceased was married in 1873 to Cyrus L. Stewart, who with eight children survive her. Milton D., Howard C., Mrs. Gilbert Lane, Lena R., Thomas D., Irene, Clara B. and George D. Stewart, who all feel the loss of an affectionate wife and mother. She had many traits of character which were much to be admired, and although not connected with any church was never known to speak ill of anyone. Her home was her realm, there was no place like home to her. The funeral was held at the M. E. church, Monday, at two o'clock, the Rev. W. J. Cross, officiating. Interment in Brookside cemetery.

      Newspaper Obituary - Sunday, August 16, 1903 Post Standard Syracuse NY - Burst A Blood Vessel - Sudden Death of Mrs. Cyrus Stewart Near Pulaski - Pulaski - Aug. 16 - Mrs. Cyrus Stewart, about 46 years old, residing on the Ridge Road, five miles east of Pulaski, passed away at about 9 o'clock last evening. At about 6 o'clock she was at the home of a neighbor, Mrs. Marshall Pierce, who lives about half a mile from the Stewart farm, assisting in milking the cows. Soon after commencing the work she complained of excruciating pains about the heart and through the head and seated herself on the steps loading to the barn. Mrs. Pierce, who had been absent for a few moments, upon returning from the house noticed that Mrs. Stewart was suffering and secured some water and bathed her head and temples. The woman continued to grow worse and was at once removed to the Pierce farm house and a messenger dispatched for Mrs. Stewart's husband, who soon returned with Dr. J. Leroy Hollis, a Sandy Creek physician, who prescribed. Mrs. Stewart soon became unconscious and remained in that condition until her death. The physician stated that the cause of death was due to the bursting of a blood vessel in the head. The body was removed to the Stewart home during the evening. Besides her husband, Mrs. Stewart is survived by five sons and three daughters, Williard(Milton), Howard, Thomas, Ivan, and George Stewart, all of whome reside in the town of Richland; Mrs. Gilbert Lane of New Centerville; Miss Lena Stewart and Miss Clara Stewart, who reside at the Stewart homestead. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. James Colvin of Sandy Creek, Mrs. Charles Colvin and Mrs. Orrin Deshane, who reside in the town of Richland. Funeral services will be held at the family home at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Richland Station Methodist Church an hour later.
