    • Michael C. Kastler, 51, of 4 Wheat Hill Drive, died Sunday at home. He had been ill with cancer.

      He was a heavy-equipment operator for 22 years at Hanson Aggregates.

      He was born Sept 14, 1948, in Watertown, a son of Ellerd and the late Maude Reid Kastler. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1966 and from Mohawk Valley Community College.

      He married Sandra Jones on Aug. 5, 1978, at First Baptist Church, Sandy Creek, with Rev. Virgil Hager officiating.

      He served in the Army from 1968 to 1970. He was a member of the Mad River Club, Sandy Creek Baptist Church and the Boylston planning committee.

      Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Amy Valley, Lacona; three sons, Michael and Scott, both of Lacona, and Joseph, Albany; his father and stepmother, Ellerd and Margaret Kastler, Lacona; a sister, Lori Smith, Rochester; a stepsister, Karen Lippe, West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Gary, Orwell; two stepbrothers, Tommy and Peter Knoeller, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, three nieces and a nephew.

      Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Brian Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.

      Calling hours will be 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
