- Newspaper Obituary - December 8, 1932 Sandy Creek News - Sarah S. Sargent - Sarah S. Sargent died at 1:00 Thursday morning, Dec. 8, 1932, at her home on East First Street. Sarah L. Seeley born March 5th, 1876, at Sandy Creek, N. Y., a daughter of Henry W. Seeley (Born in Sandy Creek, July 26th, 1834 who died December 12, 1907) Mary Anna Jacobs born in Sandy Creek, December 8th, 1831, who died December 10, 1919. In early life she married a neighbor and schoolmate, William D. Jamerson on March 1894. ue to the poor health of Mrs. Sargants father she and her husband occupied the home farm on the Ridge Road until Mr. Jamerson's death on March 10th, 1922. After his death she continued to live on the farm and on January 12th, 1924 married Merton O Porter of Lacona. Mr. and Mrs. Porter left the farm and moved to Lacona where he was employed by the Stevens Milling and Fee Company up to his death January 25, 1925. The farm was then sold to John Cobb who has occupied it since. Mr. and Mrs. Sargent married February 17th, 1926. Mrs Sargent underwent a major operation at the City Hospital in Watertown, March 1931, since which time her health was never fully regained. She was in the Memorial Hospital in the summer of 1931 in Syracuse, again in the City Hospital in November 1931. Her health failed completly during the fall of 1932 and she was obliged to take to her bed in October and continued to grow gradually worse. For several weeks prior to her death, Mrs. Elizabeth Crandall has been in constant attendance and her old neighbor and friend, Mrs. Ellen Tilton, has been with her most of the time for the past two years. Mrs. Sargant was a member of the Eastern Star, Sandy Creek Grange, W.C.T.U. , Home Missionary Society and Sunday School of the First M. E. Church of Sandy Creek. Mrs. Sargent had one brother, Callie who died at the age of 3 years. She is survived by her husband, Roscoe Sargent, and several cousins. Mrs Harriet Pruyn of Watertown; Mrs. Minnie Robbins, Elizabeth Washburn of Rochester; Mrs. Harriet Hamilton of Brooklyn, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Walter S. Dobbie offificiating, assisted by Rev. T. T. Davies.
