Notes - George H. "Hank" Hurlbut, 69, town of Hastings, died Apr 17, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. A native of Lee Center, Mr. Hurlbut lived in Granby before moving to Hastings 13 years ago. Mr. Hurlbut was the owner of G & BH Construction where he was a general contractor. He was a member of Local 12 Carpenters Union in Syracuse and the Syracuse Builder's Exchange. He was a member of Granby Center Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in the 11th Airborne Division, 213th Battallion. As a paratrooper, he saw action in the Philippines and Okinawa, and was among the first troops to invade Japan in 1945. Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Jean Allen; two sons, Barry Lee Sr. of Phoenix, and Gary Leigh of Hannibal; a daughter, Bonnie Lea of Phoenix; a sister, Arlene Myers of Phoenix. Services were held April 20, at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix. Burial was in Chase Cemetery, Lysander.
