      Betty R. Shear, 85, formerly of 10332 County Route 152, died Wednesday morning at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where she had resided since 2002.

      Born Sept. 12, 1922, in the town of Ellisburg, daughter of Roy and Gertrude Brewer LaRock, she graduated in 1941 from Henderson Central School.

      She married Richard E. Shear on Aug. 22, 1943, in the Presbyterian Church at Deridder, La., while Mr. Shear was serving in the Army.

      After Mr. Shear's military service, the couple returned to Henderson and purchased their homestead farm on County Route 152, where they resided all of their married life. Mr. Shear died April 12, 2002.

      Mrs. Shear and her husband were members of Adams Assembly of God.

      Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Donald Sutcliffe, Sackets Harbor, and Linda and Edward Forsythe, Palm Bay, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Shear, Massena, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

      A son, the Rev. Douglas R. Shear, died Nov. 9. Two brothers, Harold C. and Kenneth LaRock, also died before her.

      The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with the Rev. D. Gene Hagelin, pastor of Adams Assembly of God, officiating.

      Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery, Belleville.

      Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
