    • Newspaper Obituary - December 1, 2001 Post-Standard, Syracuse, New York - John N. Ackley, 71, of Hastings died Thursday. Born in Worth, he lived in Central Square 30 years before moving to Hastings in 1991. He retired in 1991 as an assembler at Carrier Corp. after 45 years. He was a member of a Sheet Metal Workers Local Union in Syracuse. A son, James, died previously. Survivors: His wife, the former Joyce Potter; two daughters, Linda Snow and Laura Goessl, both of Hastings; five sons, John M. of Syracuse, Steven of Moyock, N.C., Daniel of Pensacola, Fla., Kevin of Parish and Brian of Central Square; two sisters, Rosella LaRock of Florida and Anne Randall of Watertown; a brother, Robert of Adams Center; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Watson Funeral Home. Burial, Pleasant Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours, 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 631 S. Main St., Central Square.
