Fred R. Brown, 80, of 8084 Lewis Point Road,Canastota, died Thursday at Oneida Healthcare Center.
Born in Camden, he lived in Oneida and moved to Canastota in 1950. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1936. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He retired in 1980 after 31 years at the Agway fertilizer plant, Canastota. He was a member of Charles Miller Post 140, American Legion, Canastota, and First United Methodist Church of Oneida.
His wife of 57 years, the former Corena C. Scribner, died in 1997.
Survivors: Two daughters, Patricia Malbouf of Oneida and Gladys Collins of Canastota; two sons, Fred W. Sr. of Canastota and Larry L. of Canandaigua; three sisters, Evelyn Reymore of Ridgecrest, Calif., Cleora Bolton of Rochester and Betty Rusis of Rialto, Calif.; a brother, William of Canastota; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at South Bay Chapel, Morris Road, South Bay. Burial, Whitelaw Cemetery. Calling hours, 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, 201 James St., Canastota.
