Obituary of Donald Meyer Sr.
Donald J. Meyer Sr., aged 91, resident of Pulaski since 1968, formerly of Rome, passed away Monday in Oswego. Donald was born March 13, 1924 in Rome. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1942, and served in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1945. Donald married Gertrude Carrier on July 28, 1945 and she died November of 1975. He owned and operated the Corner Bakery in Rome for 15 years. He was also employed by Revere Copper and Brass and later for the Pulaski School District. He attended Park United Methodist Church in Pulaski and was a former member of various bowling and golf leagues in Pulaski. Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are one son, Donald (Carol) Meyer Jr., of Hastings, two daughters Avor (Ernie) Lewis of Pulaski, Dawn (Kenneth) Marquart of Syracuse, one brother, Larry Meyer of Lee Center and one sister, Elise Recor of Lakeland, FL, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Donald was predeceased by his second wife, Anne Meyer who passed away in 2010.
Funeral Services will be held at noon Thursday, January 7, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, a spring burial in Rome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the funeral.
Donations may be made to the VA Hospital in Syracuse, NY or to the Park United Methodist Church, 2 Hubble St., Pulaski, NY 13142.
