    • Obituary of Robert J. Craner, Jr.

      Robert J. Craner, Jr., age 86, resident of Pulaski since 1972, passed away at his home on Monday. Robert was born April 28, 1934 in Palermo, the son of Robert J. and Rheta May Henderson Craner, Sr. He graduated from Fayetteville Manlius High School in 1952 as Valedictorian. He also graduated from Syracuse University and Albany College of Pharmacy. Robert served in the United States Air Force for 12 years, retiring as a Major. He was married to Betty Parris on March 23, 1963. Robert and his family moved to Massena in July 1970 starting his career as a pharmacist at Kinney Drugs. He and the family briefly moved to Ogdensburg before settling in Pulaski in 1972. Later in his career, Robert transferred over to Rite Aid with whom he retired. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cicero, a former member of the Pulaski Lion’s Club, and a former member of Boy Scouts as a committee member. He was also a coach for the Pulaski Minor League Baseball.

      Surviving, are his wife, Betty L., two daughters, M’Lisa (Daniel) Shephard of Osceola and Stephanie (Robert) Brutski of Stafford, VA one son, Christopher (Unyong) Craner of Mililani, Hawaii, seven grandchildren, Kristina (Aaron) Markey, Jenna (Ellasan) Roe, Frank Brutski, Emily Brutski, Lilliana Craner, Angie Lancaster, Paul “Joey” Lancaster, three great-grandchildren, Shane, Garrett and Cole Markey, three brothers, Michael Craner of Florida, David Craner of Rochester and Peter Craner of The Villages, FL and two sisters, Mary Nash of Manlius and Cathy Philipp of Carson City, NV. Robert was predeceased by his son, Robert J. Craner III who died, July 3, 1985.

      Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, March 19th at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with a spring burial in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service.
