MICHAEL RUDDY, 15, CAR CRASH VICTIM, DIES

Michael E. Ruddy Jr., 15, of 7041 Saw Mill Road, died Saturday in Mercy Hospital, Watertown, from head injuries he suffered in an automobile accident about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13 on Route 3 just north of Selkirk Beach State Park.
Mr. Ruddy was a passenger in a car driven by Matthew J. McGuire, 17, a friend from Pennsylvania. The car was headed west when it slid on a wet section of the highway, spun halfway around and struck a tree with its rear end, said Richard Peffer, a trooper with the New York State Park Police.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 7385 Park St. Contributions may be made to the Pulaski High School Band.
Surviving are his parents, Michael and Linda Riggs Ruddy; five brothers, Peter D., Cort M., Patrick M., Andrew J. and Timothy P., all of Pulaski; two sisters, Amy M. and Cristin M. Ruddy, both of Pulaski; his paternal grandmother, Catherine J. Ruddy, Cheverly, Md.; his maternal grandmother, Elaine C. Riggs, Montario Point, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Born Oct. 3, 1974, in Silver Spring, Md., he had lived in Pulaski one year. He would have been a junior at Pulaski Academy and Central School this year. He had previously attended St. Mary of the Assumption Elementary School, Upper Marlboro, Md., and St. Ambrose School, Cheverly, Md.
Mr. Ruddy was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, the Pulaski High School Band and Prince George's Lacrosse Club in Hyattsville, Md. He had also played lacrosse for St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel, Md.
