- Newspaper Obituary - August 4, 2004 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - WILLIAM H. OTIS - TOWN HIGHWAY RETIREE - William H. Otis, 82, of 13627 Route 11, died Tuesday morning at the home of Fred and Lois Langworthy, Route 289, Belleville, where he had resided for two weeks. Mr. Otis worked at GLF for several years, drove a truck for Dairylea, Utica, for 17 years and retired from the town of Adams Highway Department in 1983. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and was a life member of Don Rounds American Legion Post 586, Adams. Born Oct. 18, 1921, in the town of Ellisburg, son of Earl and Pearl Bemis Otis, he served in the Army Air Forces during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant. He married Ethel Smith of Sandy Creek on April 17, 1964, in Cato. They lived in Adams Center. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters and their husbands, Eileen and Richard Moriarty Jr., Mannsville, and Judy and Christopher DiLiberto, Brewerton; a sister, Elizabeth Anderson, North Syracuse, and three granddaughters. A sister, Doreen Burke, and five brothers, Clifford, Harold, Donald, Howard and Lloyd, died before him. A graveside service in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell, will be at the family's convenience. The body will be cremated. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Carpenter- Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Donations may be made to Adams Village Baptist Church, 24 E. Church St., Adams, N.Y. 13605.
