    • Newspaper Obituary - June 23, 1847 Richland Courier - Died in New Orleans, on the 3rd of May last, Mr. John P. Lane, oldest son of Gilbert Lane of this village, in the 35th year of his age. Mr. Lane was an Odd Fellow, and altho’ in a land of strangers, far from kindred or acquaintance, still his parents have the assurance that he had every attention which his situation required, and a Christian burial. The fact needs no comment, but speaks for itself.
