JAY - Joan R. Mapes, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. She was born in Utica, N.Y., on Dec. 11, 1945 to Clifford and Helen Kinsman.. Joan married Raymond Mapes on June 7, 1969, and they remained married until his passing in 1998.. She was a woman with a deep faith in the Lord and found joy and comfort spending time with family and friends.. Joan is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Gilbert of Jay, N.Y., and Lauri (Jason) Ellis of Mesquite, N.V. Two granddaughters, Ashley Rasco of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Olivia Gilbert of Jay, N.Y. Two brothers, George (Mickey) Kinsman of AuSable Forks, N.Y., Robert Kinsman of AuSable Forks, N.Y, and several nieces and nephews.. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Mapes; her parents, Clifford and Helen Kinsman; her brother, Joseph Kinsman; and her niece, Patricia Kinsman.. Calling will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Thwaits-Zaumetzer Funeral Home.
