      Newspaper Obituary - December 21, 1961 Sandy Creek News - Milton D. Stewart, 84, a lifelong resident of the town of Sandy Creek, died Sunday morning, Dec. 17, 1961 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ethel Green, of South Pond. Mr. Stewart had worked for the Town of Sandy Creek for 42 years until his retirement in 1952. He suffered a stroke three months ago and had been cared for at the home of his daughter. He was born in Richland Oct. 13, 1877 and was the son of Cyrus and Elizabeth Eddy Stewart. On Sept. 30, 1904 he married Miss Myrtle Kinsman at Carthage, who survives. He. is also survived by nine sons; Cyrus, Dexter, Fred, Bert, Harwood, Harold and James, all of Sandy Creek; George of Ellisburg, Gilbert of Lacona. There are four daughters, Mrs. Liza Weaver, Sandy Creek; Mrs. Eva Samson, Mannsville; Mrs. Bertha Moyer and Mrs. Ethel Green of Stewart of Sandy Creek and Thomas Stewart of Fabius; and two sisters, Lena (Mrs. Fred) Butterworth of Pineville, Clara (Mrs. Thomas) Mullane of Syracuse. He also left 41 grandchildren and, 24 great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Two sons, Lester and Orin, and a daughter, Elsie, died. Mr. Stewart's funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Weston and Woodard Funeral home with the Rev. Bernard Draper, pastor of Sandy Creek Wesleyan Methodist church; officiating. Burial was in Richland cemetery.
