- Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, January 25, 1977 Observer Dispatch - Utica, New York - Mrs. Carl E. Lighthall - Rome - Mrs. Harriett M. Lighthall, 82, of 1322 Floyd Ave., a resident of the area most of her life, died yesterday in Rome City Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Utica, a daughter of Clarence and Sarah Pendergast Godfrey and attended Utica Schools. In 1935 she married Kenneth P. Connolly in Utica. He died in 1961. In 1963 she married Carl E. Lighthall. She lived in Rome for the past 14 years. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Leon (Catherine) Jakobowski of Leonardsville; two step daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Elizabeth) Parker and Mrs. John (Beverly) Novak, both of Rome; four sons, Michael, Richard, and David Connolly, of Utica and Robert Connolly of Peru, Ind.; four step sons, Richard and Ronald Lighthall, both of Rome, and Donald and Stanley Lighthall, both of Prospect; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Haug of Whitesboro and Mrs. Michael (Elizabeth) Cooley of Utica, and a brother Harry Godfrey of Utica. The funeral will be at 10:30 Thursday from the Strong Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tongiht and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
