Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, March 13, 1913 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Samuel Clystal Stewart - “One less at home! The charmed circle broken; a dear face missed day by day from its accustomed place; But cleansed and saved and perfected by grace, One more in Heaven!” How true these lines are of Samuel C. Stewart who passed away at his home on Mill street, Orwell, Thursday morning, February 27, after an illness that lasted many years and that was accompanied with great suffering. He was a man trusted by all and greatly beloved by those who knew his splendid character, and the loss sustained by his departure is well-nigh irreparable. He was born in 1843 at Richmond, Ontario, Canada, being the son of Samuel and Eliza Clystal Stewart. He came to the States in 1866, and was successfully engaged in the lumber business and farming until compelled by ill health to retire. In 1 883 he was married to Margaret Lyons, daughter of the late John and Ann Lyons of Redfield, who survives him and him tenderly and lovingly cared for him and brightened and eased the many hours of gloom and suffering. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. James Eady, Richmond, and two brothers, James Stuart [sic], Ontario, and the Hon. Thomas Stuart [sic], Ottawa, Canada. The funeral was held at his late home Saturday, March 1, Rev. T. T. Davies officiating. Burial in the family lot at Evergreen cemetery. The departed will be remembered for a long while as a man of excellent parts. He was upright, honest and true, a man worthy of confidence and esteem of his fellow men. He exemplified in his life and teachings of the Christ, whom he loved and who was so precious to him during his protracted illness. There was the blending in his life of the many virtues that constitutes a well poised, well-rounded and high purposed Christian character. “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”
