- Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, October 2, 1954 Times Record - Troy, New York - James Haresign, 33, Purple Heart veteran of World War II, died suddenly at his home, 490 lat Ave., yesterday. He was taken ill upon return from bis employment at the Allegheny LudLum Steel Co., Watervliet about 4 30 p.m. Dr. William McDonald was called and pronounced him dead and Coroner Anthony E. Matcra was notified. An autopsy was performed by Dr. Ellis Keller at Leonard Hospital. Mr. Haresign was born in Oswego and spent his early life there. His military service was with the U. S. Air Force and included three years in the Mediterranean area. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action, the Air Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and European-African and Middle Eastern Service medals. Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Silvernell; and two children, Stephen J. and Linda Ann. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. from the Finn Funeral Home, 102 3rd St., Waterford. Rev. John Madden, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Waterford, will officiate. Interment will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
