- Newspaper Obituary - Friday, May 1, 1953 Oswego Palladium Times - Oswego, New York - Mrs. Helen L. Orton, 83, of 137 West Mohawk Street, Oswego, died today at her home after an illness of 20 months. She was the widow of Loren E. Orton, locomotive engineer, who died in 1919. Mrs. Orton was born in Mexico, New York, the daughter of Don and Hannah Giles Halsey. She came to Oswego upon her marriage and lived here the rest of her life. She belonged to the West Baptist church and was a member of the King's Daughters of that church. Surviving are her daughter, Hazel V. Orton, director of production of Friendship Press, New York, and a niece, Mrs. Charles Mowry of Mexico. Friends are invited to attend the funeral at the family home, 137 West Mohawk Street, Monday afternoon at 1:30. Burial will be in Richland cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the home after Saturday noon at their convenience.
