    • Newspaper Obituary - (Source Unknown) - Ruth M. Stewart - April 26 1928 - September 26 2007 - Ruth M. Stewart, age 79, of South Main St., Groton, NY died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a one year illness. Ruth was born April 26, 1928 at home in Georgetown, NY a daughter of the late Walter A. and Florence Holl Eaton. Ruth was a life resident of Dryden and Groton and was the widow of James L. Stewart who died in 1997. Ruth was a devoted member, past secretary, Past County President, Past Unit President and tireless worker of Leonard T. Spaulding Unit #1134, American Legion Auxiliary. After many years of employment at Smith Corona she worked at the Burger King in Dryden until 2005. She enjoyed bowling and square dancing. Survivors include her son, Larry (Janice) Stewart of Dryden; her daughter, Darla Sue Stewart of East Syracuse; a sister, Hildegard (Francis) Preston of DeRuyter; a brother, Kenneth Eaton of Georgetown; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gary J. Stewart and eight siblings. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, Sept. 29th, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Pastor Archie Smith officiating. Burial will be later in Sheds, NY. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Members of the Legion Auxiliary will call at the funeral home in a group at 12 PM Saturday. Friends are asked to consider a memorial to the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 1134, P.O. 002, Dryden Road, Dryden, NY 13054-1002.
