    • William Stewart (William, William), born Mar 16, 1752, in Stonington, Conn., married (1) Sep 25, 1774, Anna Coates, by whom he had five children. He was a soldier in the Revolution. He was a master mechanic, building grist mills and sawmills. He married (2) Oct 31, 1802, Amanda Darrow, in North Stonington. He died Jan 23, 1843, in his 92nd year, and his tombstone on Stewart Hill adds "An ancient pillar of our land has fallen by the Almighty hand".
