- Class of 1943 PACS
Thelma F. Goodwin, age 98, adored mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away November 22, 2023. Thelma, a life resident of Pulaski, was born July 9, 1925 the daughter of J. Gerald and Thea Strate Fraser. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1943 and Central City Business Institute in 1944. Thelma was married to Wm. Howard Goodwin on June 11, 1946 until his passing on November 12, 2012.
Thelma was an active member of her high school, especially being involved in numerous musical programs. She continued with her love of music by becoming the church organist at St. John the Evangelist Church (presently, Christ Our Light Parish) for 30 years. She also enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening, camping and traveling across the country in their motorhome, square dancing, and both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was also a diehard Wheaties fan and ice cream connoisseur. However, her favorite pastime of all was spending time with her family. She would beam with delight when they were together.
Surviving are daughters, Patricia Ann Goodwin of Oswego and Margaret “Peggy” (Richard) Kolenda of Henderson, son in-law, Gary Holthouse of Minnesota, four grandchildren, Russell Holthouse, Sally Barlow, Steven Kolenda and Emily Kolenda, and five great-grandchildren. Thelma was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Holthouse in 2012.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 28th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, located at 52 Park Street, Pulaski.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29th at Christ Our Light Parish, 23 Niagara Street, Pulaski with burial at Pulaski Cemetery.
