    • Newspaper Obituary - Friday, March 3, 1961 Utica Daily Press - Utica, New York - Mrs. Emma M. Colvin Dies at 89; "Singing Grandmothers' Mother" - Oneida - Mrs. Emma M. Colvin, 89, mother of the "Singing Grandmothers" who gained nation-wide television fame several years ago through the show "Name That Tune", died late Wednesday night in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stuart Hubbard at Five Corners. She was born Feb. 20, 1872, in Richland, daughter of Thomas and Sarah McKinstry Eddy. On Nov. 26, 1890, she married to Charles F. Colvin. They moved to Oneida in 1910. Mr. Colvin died on July 3, 1923. Mrs. Colvin was a member of the Wampsville Presbyterian Church and its Women's Auxiliary. Besides Mrs. Hubbard, she leaves seven other daughters, Mrs. Leonard Evans, Mrs. Stanley Morgan, Mrs. Wesley Miller, Mrs. Louis Block, Mrs. James Moyer, Mrs. Howard Cross and Mrs. Curtis DeVaul, all of Oneida; a son, Fayette Colvin, Canastota, 28 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2:30 Sunday from the Whitford Edkin Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., with the Rev. Martin E. Ives, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today and tomorrow at the funeral home.
