T.M. RUSSELL PASSED AWAY
Potsdam -- Thomas M. Russell, 80, died at the farm home of his daughter, Mrs. Dan Layo, on the Austin school road, several miles from the Potsdam-Hopkinton road, Friday afternoon. He was in good health Thursday but Friday morning complained of feeling ill. Dr. T.S. Barnett was called but he died before the doctor arrived. Death was due to heart disease and infirmities of old age.
He was born in Canada Feb. 12, 1856 [incorrect], a son of Alexander and Margaret Russell. He came to this country about 17 years ago. He was a farmer, operating a large farm in Canada before moving to this country.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Victoria Russell, and seven children, Mrs. George Eanom, Massena; Mrs. William Dignean, Brasher Falls; Mrs. Dan Layo, at whose home he died; Mrs. Clarence Wilkins, Fort Jackson; William Russell, Watertown; and John and Paul Russell both of Massena.
Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Catholic Church in this village this morning at 10, Rev. T. J. Mahoney, pastor of the church officiated. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery in Hopkinton.
