Barbara A. Moot, age 80, life resident of Pulaski, passed away on Monday July 31, 2023, at Francis House Hospice in Syracuse. Barbara (Barb) was born February 7, 1943, in Richland, the daughter of late Stanley and Nan (Brannan) Whaley. She graduated from Pulaski High School and attended Worth Business College in Fayetteville, NC. Barb was married to her husband of 61 years, John Moot, on December 26, 1961. She owned Baron Construction in Pulaski for 12 years. She had also been employed by the Ames Department Store in Pulaski and the Herald Journal in Syracuse for many years.

Over the years, Barb was very active in her community, which she enjoyed and was very important to her. She was an auxiliary member for the Robert Edwards American Legion Post #358 and helped with many meals. She and John enjoyed their retirement together, either traveling across the country in their 5th wheel, or on the many cruises they took with family and friends. They eventually chose Florida as their winter home and split their time in the summer between their home in Pulaski and her sister’s campground in West Monroe. Barb enjoyed many hobbies including playing Pitch, shopping and winning at the casinos. Above all, Barb cherished spending time with family and friends and was the organizer for numerous family gatherings. Her family was at the center of her love. She was best known for her contagious sense of humor and laughter. Barb will be greatly missed but the memories of her and the kindness she showed to all will remain in the hearts of those that knew her.

She is survived by her loving family, husband John J. of Pulaski, one daughter, Karen (Paul) Wilson of Knoxville, TN, two sons, Jeffrey (Nichole) Moot of Pulaski and Bradley (Tony) Moot of New York City, one sister, Joan Cusson of West Amboy, five grandchildren, Kristen (Cory) Chapman, Travis (Katie) Wilson, Kaylee (Ian) Lowery, Taylor (Justin Cox) Moot, Jayden Moot, and six great-grandchildren. Other than her parents, Barb was predeceased by her four siblings.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm, Wednesday, August 2nd, at Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Francis House, Hospice, for the care and compassion they showed Barb during her visit there. If desired, kindly direct donations to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
