- Newspaper Obituary - November 12, 1996 Watertown Daily Times - DOROTHY GIBBS FORMER AVON REPRESENTATIVE - Dorothy Gibbs, 60, of 6985 Van Antwerp Drive, Cicero, formerly of Richland, died Sunday at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse. Mrs. Gibbs was a representative for Avon products for 25 years and was a member of Richland Fire Department Auxiliary. She lived most of her life in Richland until moving to Cicero in 1991. Born July 13, 1936, in Richland, daughter of Stanley and Nan Brennan Whaley, she graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1954. She married Robert C. Gibbs, a native of Henderson, on May 5, 1956. He died Aug. 11, 1984. Surviving are a son, Robert C. Jr., Richland; her mother, Nan Whaley, Pulaski; two brothers, Edward Whaley, Bowling Green, Ky., and Phillip Whaley, Auburn; three sisters Jody Cusson, West Amboy, Barbara Moot, Pulaski, and Carol Ives, Elbridge; her fiance, Patrick Bergin, Cicero, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Elizabeth Mowry officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Richland Fire Department.

Mrs. Gibbs resided most of her life in Richland before moving to Cicero five years ago. She was a 1954 graduate of Pulaski Academy High School and was an Avon representative for 25 years. Her husband, Robert L. Sr., died in 1984. Mrs. Gibbs was a member of the auxiliary of the Richland Fire Department. Surviving are a son, Robert L. Jr. of Richland; her mother, Nan Whaley of Pulaski; two brothers, Edward Whaley of Bowling Green, Ky., and Phillip Whaley of Auburn; three sisters, Jody Cusson of West Amboy, Barbara Moot of Pulaski and Carol Ives of Elbridge; her fiance, Patrick Bergin of Cicero; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
