      Helen L. Clark, 94, of Sandy Creek, New York passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, December 10, 2023 under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

      Helen was born March 24, 1929 in Orwell, New York to Charles and Margaret (Kiley) LaShomb. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School and was President of her class. Helen married Kenneth Clark June 20, 1951. She served as Town Clerk for Sandy Creek for 14 years and volunteered as the cook at Unity Acres in Orwell for 19 years. Helen was a member of Christ our Light Catholic Church, she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and Red Hat Society, and was active with the organization, Senior Citizens. Always with a spirit of giving and an infectious laugh, she enjoyed baking, catering events and traveling.

      Helen is survived by her children Catherine Clark, Stephen (JoAnne) Clark, Barbara (Doug) Pratt, Michael (Debbie) Clark, John (Susan) Clark, James (Kim) Clark, Margaret Mary Ventura, Thomas Clark, 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 6 great, great, grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Helen was the heart of her family and delighted in all of her grandchildren. Every year on Christmas Eve family would gather at her home for a huge celebration that became a treasured Clark tradition. She also loved flowers, especially orchids and rhododendrons.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, and her siblings Sister Margaret Charles, Charles LaShomb and Elizabeth Court.

      A calling hour will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, December 15 at Christ Our Light Church in Pulaski followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Spring (of 2024) at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sandy Creek. The family would like to extend an expression of thanks to the caregivers who were by Helen’s side throughout the past four years.

      In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor and memory to either Hospice of Jefferson County or the Sandy Creek Backpack Program.
