Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, November 14, 1929 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Fernwood Postmaster Dies - Herbert J. Webb, postmaster of Fernwood, died Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock following an illness of two weeks. Mr. Webb had been in [line unreadable] Fernwood to make his home five years ago. Mr. Webb was born in the town of Albion, November 27, 1872, the son of William and Mary Dupey Webb. He was a cheese maker for many years with the Dairymen's Protective Association of Pulaski and at the Colosse cheese factory before going to Fernwood to make his home. Previous to his taking up the occupation of cheese maker, he was a successful fanner in the town of Albion. Mr. Webb was an active member of the Fernwood Baptist church, having served as trustee for several years. He was also a member of the South Richland Grange. He is survived by his wife, Ina Bendy Webb, and four children, Herbert, Lewis, Allen and Ma. A prayer service was held at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. George A. Leitka officiating. Burial was in the Willis cemetery.
