    • Charles S. Snyder, 84, of Osceola Road died Monday at his home after a long illness.

      A native of West Virginia, Mr. Snyder lived in Rome before moving to Camden. He retired in 1972 after 17 years with the Rome School District.

      Mr. Snyder was a member of Delta United Methodist Church, Rome. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

      Surviving are his wife, the former Pauline M. Blount; two daughters, Phyllis Wheaton of Glen Rock, Pa., and Patricia Waterman of Rome; a son, Charles S. Snyder of Osceola; a sister, Kathleen Granger of Elmira Heights; a stepsister, Elsie Winnick of Elmira Heights; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.

      Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Rome. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Dugway.

      Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 418 N. George St.

      Contributions may be made to Lewis County Hospice, 7785 N. State St., Lowville 13367.
