      Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 6, 1968 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Lacona Native Dies at 77 - Pulaski - Mrs. Bessie Filkins Barto, 77, Ilion, widow of George Barto, formerly of Lacona, died Wednesday night at Utica hospital where she had been a patient four weeks. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Foster funeral home with Rev. Harold H. Pennock, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Edith Winks, Syracuse, Mrs. Lydia Sallamacchia, Oswego, and Mrs. Rosina Byington; a brother, Harold Filkins, West Orange, New Jersey, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Leo (Grace) Filkins, Syracuse. Born August 26, 1890 at Lacona, a daughter of Charles and Nettie Robbins Filkins, she was married to George Barto, who died years ago.
