Newspaper Obituary - Sunday, June 22, 2014 Syracuse Post-Standard - Syracuse, New York - Anthony Bontomase, age 99, resident of Pulaski, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 19, at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Oswego. He was born March 1, 1915, in Oswego, the son of Joseph and Rose Zaia Bontomase. Tony graduated from Oswego High School in 1933, and was starting guard for the Oswego High School basketball team that won the Eastern Tournament at Glens Falls in 1933. He went onto Rochester Business Institute and attended Television School in Kansas City, Missouri where he received his Federal Communications Diploma and license to be a Federal Communications Operator. After college, he married his long-time love of 70 years, Pearl (Elizabeth) Flagg, who passed away November 21, 2009. From 1939 until 1949 he and his wife, Pearl, owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Dance Hall in Pulaski. Later in life he became a successful insurance manager for Combined Life Insurance Company. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and collecting and refinishing antiques. Surviving are his children, Jaynee Bontomase of Leesburg, Florida, David (Shonnie) Bontomase of Pulaski, and Julie (Tyrone) Larson of Asheville, North Carolina, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Pulaski. Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral.

PULASKI - Anthony Bontomase, 99, a resident of Pulaski, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Nursing Home in Oswego. He was born March 1, 1915 in Oswego, the son of Joseph and Rose Zaia Bontomase.
Tony graduated from Oswego High School in 1933 and was starting guard for the Oswego High School basketball team that won the Eastern Tournament at Glens Falls in 1933. He went on to Rochester Business Institute and attended television school in Kansas City, Mo., where he received his federal communications diploma and license to be a federal communications operator.
