      Obituary for Marilyn N. Halsey
      In Loving Memory
      Marilyn Norma Halsey
      February 7, 2024

Marilyn Norma Halsey, 91, of Mexico, ascended to heaven on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Marilyn was born April 4, 1932, to Lewis & Ella (Calkins) Webb, of Fernwood, NY. She was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and Central Schools. Marilyn married Carl W. Halsey on November 17, 1950, and together they owned and operated Halsey Farms in Mexico and had three children together. Carl passed away on June 10, 1999. Marilyn held several jobs over the years, but she was most well known in her time as a lunch lady at Mexico Academy and Central Schools and later as the Mexico Town Clerk; a position in which she served the town, and the residents of Mexico for 28 years.

Marilyn was a hard worker, with lots of determination. Even recently in her later years, she continued to mow her two-acre lawn, clean her own house, and cook and bake for people; something she loved to do. She was well known for her amazing cooking and baking, and it was nothing for her to bake a homemade pie on a whim. She also loved to garden, and she had many flower gardens, and also a vegetable garden. Another one of her favorite pass times was collecting dolls, which she did for many years. Marilyn always had quick wit, and a genuine heart, caring for all of those around her, especially her family. She had been extremely active at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico prior to Covid-19, and most recently attended the First Baptist Church in Mexico. Marilyn also volunteered one night a week at the Care & Share thrift shop for many years and was well-loved by the community.
Marilyn was an amazing woman with a heart of gold and left an impact on anyone that she interacted with. She loved her children and her grandchildren with all her heart. Marilyn had peace with the fact that she had given her life to her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, and that she knew when she passed, she would be in heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ken) Nelson, her sons, Thomas (Peggy) Halsey, and Timothy Halsey, her grandchildren, John (Jenifer) Meeks, Julie (Tommy) Meeks, Rebecca (Stephen) Spink, Lucas Lasell, Andrew Halsey, Chris Halsey, Cheryl Melvin, Timothy Halsey, and her sisters, Joyce (Herbert) Miller, and Shirley Bellows, along with several nieces, and nephews, great-grandchildren, and close friends.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Carl W. Halsey, her mother and father, Ella & Lewis Webb, and her brothers, Donald, Jerry, and David Webb.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12 at Believers Chapel North, 5375 St. Rt. 3, Mexico. The Funeral will also be held at Believers Chapel North at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, with burial to follow.

Anyone wishing to make donations in Marilyn’s memory can contact Donald McFee Memorial Ambulance, 52 Watson Ave; Mexico, Ny 13114. The family is thankful for all of those who loved and cared for her.
