Lula H. Coughlin, 84, passed away at the Hope Hospice House, Cape Coral, Fl on January 15th, 2010. She was born on July 23rd, 1925 in Tupper Lake, NY. She was a daughter of George and Elizabeth Sovey Harvey. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School, Sandy Creek, NY 1943 and Plattsburgh School of Nursing, Plattsburgh, NY in 1947. She was employed as a registered nurse at the former House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, NY from 1947 until retirement in 1990. She then became a house mother for Kappa Alpha Fraternity, University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS until 1996. She married G. William Coughlin of Watertown, NY in 1949. The couple lived in Watertown, NY and raised their six children. She was an avid golfer and reader and also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her three sons and three daughters and their spouses: Michael (Diane) Cape Coral, Fl, Patricia, Mannsville, NY, Kathleen (Thomas) Cheney, Watertown, NY, Judith (Gary) Schreib, Fairport, NY, William, Bonita, FL, Dennis, Port Charlotte, FL and 4 brothers and two sisters; Peter (Jeanette) Harvey, Sandy Creek, NY, Howard, Okeechobee, FL, Shirley (Joseph) LaSell, Mannsville, NY, Clark, Gasper, AL, Mark (Barbara), Sandy Creek, NY; Grace (Lawrence) LaSell, Sandy Creek, NY; 10 grand children and one great grand daughter. She is predeceased by her husband G. William Coughlin, D. Joseph Coughlin and brothers Charles, Harold, Robert and George Harvey. Calling hours will be held on January 27th, 2010 from 12:00 2:00pm with a prayer service to follow at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, 632 State St., Watertown, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Hope Hospice House, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909 or the Alzheimers Association, 120 Washington St., Watertown, NY.
