      Robert F. "Bert" Harvey, 68, of 6372 Route 11, died Monday evening at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, where he had been a patient since Dec. 19.

      Mr. Harvey worked on the family farm and was also a silo builder employed by Blount Lumber Co., Lacona. He then joined Carpenters Union Local 12, Syracuse, and worked in the construction industry for several years, retiring in 1992.

      Born Dec. 27, 1930, at Tupper Lake, son of George and Elizabeth Sovey Harvey, he moved with his family to Sandy Creek in 1938 and attended Sandy Creek schools. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.

      He married Phyllis Marie Hunt on Nov. 7, 1951. The couple lived in Pierrepont Manor for 28 years before returning to Sandy Creek.

      Mr. Harvey enjoyed woodworking and raised chickens, ducks, rabbits and beef cattle. He was a member of Cable Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8534, Lacona, and a past member of the Sandy Creek and Mannsville volunteer fire departments.

      Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Bellanne) Draper, Lorraine, Mrs. Bruce (Babette) Hall, Watertown, and Mrs. Donald (Jane) Patterson, Sandy Creek; three sons, Frederick "Bob," Orwell, Bernard, Lacona, and Benny, Adams Center; four brothers, Peter and Mark, both of Sandy Creek, and Clark and Howard, both of Florida; three sisters, Shirley Lasell, Pierrepont Manor, Grace Lasell, Sandy Creek, and Lu Coughlin, Florida; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

      Two brothers, Harry and George, and a stepbrother, Charles Leete, died before him.

      A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Summerville Funeral Home with the Rev. John M. Hunt of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Ogdensburg, officiating. The body will be cremated. Burial will be in Adams Center Rural Cemetery.

      There will be no calling hours.
