- Newspaper Obituary - September 15, 2013 Syracuse Post Standard - MARTIN - William "Red" Martin - September 10, 2013 - William "Red" Martin, age 83, resident of Hastings, passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. William resided in Hastings since 1979 and had previously lived in Cleveland and Richland. He was born May 11, 1930 in Pulaski, the son of Clarence and Margeret Woods Martin. He attended Pulaski Schools. William married Sharren Tryon on December 12, 1975. He was employed by GE in Syracuse for 33 years, retiring in 1987, and he had previously worked for the Railroad before he was of legal age. He also was an electrician and handyman and did many jobs throughout his life. Surviving: his wife, Sharren J.; seven sons, Bill "Pouchy" Martin of Pulaski, Robert Martin of Ellisburg, Rickey Martin of Watertown, David Martin of Pennellville, Clarence Martin of Baldwinsville, Joseph DeForge of Oswego and Mike DeForge of Liverpool; four daughters, Tina Sobotka of Hastings, Marie Martin of Hastings, Sally Parker of Mexico and Linda Harten of Oswego. William was predeceased by one son, James Martin and one daughter, Kathy Martin. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with burial in Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.
