- Roxanne D. VanDuzer Obituary
Roxanne Daisy VanDuzer, age 83, resident of Pulaski, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Karolwood Gardens Senior Living Center in Norfolk, VA. Roxanne was born May 1, 1941, in Boonville, the daughter of Millard and Rose (Morrison) Olin. Roxanne was married to Charles VanDuzer for 47 years, and they raised a family of 9 children before his passing in 2005.
When her family was young, Roxanne was very active as a 4H leader and Home Bureau member. Anyone who knew Roxanne knew she always had a craft nearby. Whether it was sewing bridesmaid dresses, crocheting, cooking or knitting, she was always working on a project. Roxanne tried to impart some of those talents to her children, with varying degrees of success among them. She was secretary for an auto racing club as well as a Board of Elections Poll Worker in Fernwood.
In her 40’s, Roxanne completed her schooling and began a career of helping others in the community. She first worked as a Home Health Aide, then at Oswego Hospital before becoming an EMT for NOCA and Moyers Corners ambulance services. In 2012, she retired from Oswego County BOCES after 20 years of service. While at Oswego County BOCES, Roxanne was a CSEA Union Representative and trained new Bus Drivers, but her joy came from the children with special needs she cared for initially as an EMT and then a Bus Driver. In her free time, Roxanne was a member of the Lions Club, where she loved delivering Christmas baskets and helping out with their food truck in the South Park. Roxanne was also a past President of NOCA, and a Eucharistic Minister at Christ Our Light Parish.
Her family will miss her smile, adventurous spirit, and homemade gifts.
Surviving, are seven daughters, Nancy (Bruce) Butler of Lysander, Bonnie (Kevin) Woody of North Carolina, Jan Whitehead of Virginia, Jill (Peter) Rath of Youngstown, Christie VanDuzer of Syracuse, Rosanne (Tom) Lissow of North Carolina, and Charlee Marthia of Mexico, one son, Charles VanDuzer (Sheila) of Pulaski, sister, Susan Cook, 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Roxanne was predeceased by her daughter Misty Goodnough and several siblings.
A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 2nd at the Christ Our Light Parish in Pulaski, with burial in South Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 3:00 to 6:00, Monday, July 1 at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski.
