- Winfield Jones Obituary
Winfield "Bud" Scott Jones, age 86, resident of Pulaski passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 4th, at Loretto Health & Rehab in Syracuse. Bud was born July 24, 1931 the son of Rae Rogers Thornton Jones and Margaret Knox Jones. He lived in New Jersey in his early years and Central New York for most of his adult life. Bud graduated from Syracuse University in 1963. He taught Physical Education and coached Varsity Basketball and Track and Field at Pulaski Academy for 33 years. In 1999, Coach Jones was elected to the Central New York High School Basketball Hall of Fame. He was also elected Coach of the Year in New York State for Track and Field.
Surviving are four children Susan (Bob) Deegan, Karen (Pete) Backus, Beth (Tim Bak) Lafave and Scott (Libby) Jones, 10 grandchildren, Bryan, David, Maggie, Scott, Andrew, Emily, Evan, Landon, James and Joseph, and seven great-grandchildren. Bud was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Donnanell Jones, on October 25, 2017.
A private memorial service will be held. Calling hours will be held Saturday, November 11th, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, NY.
Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Pulaski Sports Booster Club.
